This species grows leafy limestone in a mixed semi-deciduous form to open up deciduous broad-leaved mountain cloud forests, either on steep limestone cliffs or on limestone peaks with moss and ferns. 400 to 1500 meters above sea level"

Description: 

In partial shade as a small sized, warm to cool growing orchid with 4 to 6, distichous, coriaceous, oblong or narrowly elliptic, acute to obtuse at the asymetric apex, dark and light green mottled dark green, heavily purple spotted and keeled beneath leaves that blooms in the spring on a single (rarely 2) flowered, green spotted with purple, white hirsute, 30 to 50 cm long, inflorescence arising from a narrowly ovate-lanceolate floral bract carrying a large flower with a nice (apple-raspberry) scent

Distribution:

China South-Central, China Southeast, Vietnam (Quản Ba, Hà Giang, Na Hang, Tuyên Quang, Na Rì, Bắc Cạn, Minh Hòa, Quảng Bình).

Ecological:

Grassy slopes, humus-rich soil, rocky and well-drained places, forests and thickets in limestone areas; 400-1500 m.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the spring.

Flower size:

9 cm.

Cultivation:

SEASON: Fall, early Winter.

TEMPS: Intermediate.

WATERING: Damp but not soggy.

LIGHT:  Filtered light, no direct sun
