Description:
Orchid, stubby body and 40-50 cm long. Flowers 3-5 cm in size, grows one from the tips of deciduous stems. Flowers are fragrant and bloom in late Winter and early Spring.
Distribution:
Found in the Chinese Himalayas, Assam, eastern Himalayas, India, Nepal, western Himalayas, Andaman Islands, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. In VietNam, Found in Biên Hòa, Định Quán.
Ecological:
Epiphytic on tree trunks in open forests; 700-1800 m.
Note:
Very commonly found as Dendrobium cretaceum Lindl., but Dendrobium polyanthum Wall. ex Lindl. has precedence. This species and Dendrobium primulinum Lindl. are also cited as conspecific but I have left them separate at this time.
