English Name:

The Nodding Sophronitis.

Description: 

It has densely clustered, subcylindric or ovoid pseudobulb with 2 or 3 basal nodes and carrying a single, apical, thickly coriaceosu, broadly ovate or elliptic-ovate, obtuse or minutely apiculate leaf that blooms on a terminal, erect, 2 to 5 cm long, few 4 to 10 flowered inflorescence with nodding flowers occuring in the spring. Mount this species on cork and give hot to warm temperatures, bright light, high humidity, and year round water with less in cooler weather. .

Distribution:

Argentina Northeast, Brazil Northeast, Brazil South, Brazil Southeast, Brazil West-Central, Paraguay.

Ecological:

A miniature sized and grows epiphytically and occasionally lithophytically as a warm growing orchid.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the spring.

Flower size:

2.6 cm.

Cultivation:

Although Cattleya Cernua enjoys sunlight and is able to tolerate heat, Bloomify recommends that giving your orchid partial shade during summer time to avoid sunburn. On the other side, it is less tolerate to cold weather, so please keep your plant above 50 ºF in winter..
