The yellow colour form of Bulbophyllum peltopus Schltr., from section Peltopus, which is a quite common epiphytic plant found growing here in the lower montane forest of this part of New Guinea (1300-2300m). This is another quite variable species with flowers ranging from white to bright yellow and a mostly yellow lip to entirely purple. Like many others from this section, it is free flowering throughout the year. Flowers last 6-7 days, always bloom facing the ground and look like little suspended spaceships on their long flexible inflorescences. Many of you will immediately notice the resemblance to B. ankylochele, which is from the same section and cultivated commercially outside of New Guinea.
