Family: 

Orchidaceae Juss.

Synonym:

Aerides bernhardiana Rchb.f.

English Name:

The Bent Aerides.

Description: 

With an upright to semipendulous stem carrying strap-shaped, arching, unequally bilobed leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on an axillary, arching to subarching, to 21 cm long, many flowered inflorescence with up to 21, long-lasting, fragrant flowers.

Distribution:

Borneo, Sulawesi.

Ecological:

As a medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the spring and summer.

Flower size:

3.0 mm.

Cultivation:

Plants are best grown hanged in baskets and on mounted and require bright to full sunlight and warm temperatures. If hunged the roots must be watered frequently in the summer. Reduce watering in the winter. Plants should be grown in media that is well drained such as tree fern fibers (for small plants), several pieces of coarse fir bark, or sphagnum moss.
