"Paphiopedilum argus (Rchb.f.) Stein is endemic to Luzon in the Philippines. It is found in the mountainous regions of Benguet and Ifugao provinces at an altitude of about 1200 to 1800 m above sea level. It grows like a terrestrial herb on trees with thick moss. It is most commonly found on limestone along volcanic ranges in lowland forests and in subtropical or tropical moist forests on the mountains. It prefers shady habitats in tropical climates."
