English Name:

The Antenna Bulbophyllum (refers to the apice of the petals).

Description: 

It can grow up to 15cm tall. The flowers are held on single-flowered inflorescences and measure between 45 - 85mm long. The sepals are much larger than the petals and are purple-red on the outer surface. The dorsal sepal has transulcent 'windows'. The petals are small and ovate, tapering off into setiform tips. Flower colour varies within the species. 

Distribution:

Borneo, Jawa, Malaya, Philippines, Sulawesi, Thailand.

Ecological:

Grows in lowland, hill, and mountain primary forests, which are epiphytes of small size, living in hot to cold regions above, clinging to tree trunks or on rocks below under bright light. splashing at an altitude of 500 to 1550 m above sea level.

Flowering times:

Bloom in the spring.

Flower size:

13 x 2.5 cm.

Cultivation:

Keep plant in cool to intermediate temperatures. Keep moist in summer seasons and do not allow mix to dry, in winter keep the mix slight dry and reduce watering. Keep good air movement to avoid fungal growth. Keep plants in shade. Pot plants in sphagnum moss, fine bark, or mounted.
