Description:
Plants are parasitic on other roots; the body degenerates into a tuber of many different forms, often consisting of many lobes.
Monophonic flowers are different from the original. The male inflorescence is long, the flower axis at base has a few leaves; Envelope 4 - 7 lobes; stamens have 4 - 7 anther. The female inflorescence is short, the flowers have no perianth and are just ovoid masses with legs and length of a thin thread.
Distribution:
Distributed from India, Indochina to Hainan Island, Peninsular Malaysia, Xumatra Island (Indonesia), some islands in the Pacific Ocean and Australia. In VietNam, it found have in Ha Noi to Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Lam Dong and An Giang.
Ecological:
The tree grows popularly in evergreen forest, at altitudes (150) 500 - 2600m.
Flowering all year round, but mainly from November to April. Parasites on the roots of woody plants, both trees and vines, such as the roots of many species of the genus Cissus, Tetrastigma of the Grapes family and many legumes.
Use:
Ethnic minorities in Ninh Thuan often use water decoctions to treat stomach upset and body pain.
