MEDICINAL PLANT SPECIES FOR VIETNAM

Summary
Through survey of medicial plant resources in Yang Mao
commune, Krông Bông district, Đắk Lắk province, Kaempferia parviflora Wall. ex
Baker is recorded as a new
species in flora of Vietnam .
Kaempferia parviflora Wall. ex Baker is characterized by petiole
long, ovate, corolla lobes white, linear, lateral staminodes linear, labellum
white with purple tinged at the base, each lobe obovate, cuneate, bifid, upto
1/4th its length, filament very short, crested. A full description with a
colour plate and notes on the variability in morphology, distribution,
phenology and uses of this species are given.
