Cynomorii is produced mainly in the provinces of Inner Mongolia, Gansu,
Qinghai, and Xinjiang. Collected in spring and autumn, the stem is dried,
sliced, and used unprepared.
Properties Taste
& Meridians:
Sweet
in flavor, warm in property, acts on the Liver, Kidney, and
Large Intestine channels.
Functions:
Tonifies the Kidney and strengthens the Yang, moistens the
Intestine to ease bowel movement.
Indications & Combinations:
1. For impotence, infertility, weakness of
the extremities.
2. For weakness of the extremities, it is used with Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (Shu Di Huang),
Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis (Gui Ban), and Os Tigris (Hu Gu).
3. For constipation due to Dry Intestine, it is used with Fructus Cannabis Sativae (Huo Ma Ren) and
nRadix Angelicae Sinensis (Dang Gui).
Dosage
and administration:
15 g or less, decocted in water for an oral
dose.
Precautions:
Contraindicated
in patients with Hyperactive Yang due to Yin Deficiency,
diarrhea due to Spleen Qi Deficiency, and constipation due to
Excess Heat.
