Rhizoma Bistortae is produced
chiefly in
northeastern China and the provinces of Jiangsu and Hubei. It is collected in
the early spring or autumn, dried in sunlight, and sliced for use.

Clears Pathogenic Heat, removes
Dampness, reduces swelling.
Indications
& Combinations:
1. For dysentery with bloody stools and diarrhea in acute
gastroenteritis, it is used alone.
2. For carbuncles, scrofula, and ulcers in the mouth and on the tongue,
it is often used alone.
3. For edema, it is used alone or with other herbs.
Dosage and administration:
3–12 g, decocted in water for
an oral dose or for external use.
